A little muscle man.
This tug was built in 1927 in the yard of Marckmann & Faasen at Capelle a/d IJssel as the steam tug “Brabantia”on behalf of Mr. Maarschalkerwaard.
In 1934 the boat was bought by Mr. Antonie Kooren and was renamed “Antonie”. The Kooren family, well known from the Rotterdam tugboat company Kotug, pocesses from that time still a beautifull model of this ship as a steamer.
In 1952 the steam engine was replaced by a Brons diesel engine. Already in 1956 this engine was replaced again by a Stork Ricardo diesel engine of 625 HP. After a short charter period the boat was sold in 1983 to Mr. Huib v.d. Velde and renamed in “GRADA”. But also under the new owner many tug orders were carried out on behalf of the Kotug company in Rotterdam.
In December 2006 Mr. Jan Elsert Santema from Harlingen became the current owner. He uses this ship for housing and excursions. With so much horsepower, that must by a special experience. This ship is recognized as an official floating A-status, historical monument.
