The sloop “RITA”.

Name and place are made up but still this boat will have existed. It was immortalized on a watercolor of the Dutch painter W.A. van Deventer, who lived from 1824 to 1893.

The ship is anchored somewhere. A number of people can be seen on deck. The rowing boat is alongside and the gate in the reling is open. Apparently a number of items had to be handled ashore and the ship is now waiting for orders. The model became the name of a real Rita, living in Gent.

Just a peaceful day, somewhere in the middle of the 19th century from just a little coaster with just a few people on deck, conversing comfortably.
