A ship for a life time

Once someone proposed to his wife in front of the statue of the mermaid in the harbor of Copenhagen. That is why the ship owes its name. Since, according to seaman’s superstition, a change of name brings bad luck, this name was also maintained under subsequent owners. The ship was built to a design by Mr. Theodoor Gillissen (1921-2002).

The ship had the same owner for almost thirty years. After such a long period with many adventures, vacations and memories, such a ship almost becomes a personality in a lifetime and you start to love it. After all, if it is with a heavy heart that it has to be parted with, what could be more logical than to have a ship model built from it that you can look at with a smile every day.
